Udupi, Mysore - March 2010

After a long silence of about 9 months, it was time for a good long ride. And with two instances of flat tyre, a bad engine, almost no fuel on two occasions, this turned out to be one of those longest and more adventurous trips i had. (How many times have you faced a flat tyre only 3 minutes after you had praised your mobike and your luck for none till date?!)Read more »

Patan - Champaner, June - 2009

Recently i came back from a road trip to Gujurat (about 1700 kms round-trip). Patan and champaner were on the platter. I had invited darth_lucifer (from BCMT), however he could not make it due to prior commitments. But since he'd said he was interested in visiting Dholavira excavation site, i striked it off my itinerary for us to cover it together at a later date. Instead i took a detour to Nandurbar to meet Fr. Geoffrey D'lima of Janseva mandal in conjunction with some education projects.Read more »

Trek to Kalwantin, June 2009

"Monsoons are coming.. lets trek!"
Well, that's exactly how my friend managed to convince me. Though rains were no where to be expected in the near future, i was very much in for this. Word was spread among friends, and FOFs, and after some (much expected) last minute back-offs, 8 of us confirmed. Kalawantin it was going to be.Read more »

Chikaldhara - Sanchi

Travelling to western Maharashtra was on the cards since some time. But where to was the question. Finally i managed to figure out one location - Chikaldhara - in the Amravati district of Maharashtra. Very little (or for that matter "no") first hand information was available on this place (this proved to become a bone of contention later in the trip). Google searches revealed some basic information, which i used to build a trip itinerary. Sanchi being somewhat close to chikaldhara (well.. Ahem.. about 300 kms..Read more »

Hampi... A quick date with history

4 days of holidays in the office meant a ride was emminent. But work load leading to the holidays meant that there wasn't time for planning. I'd called Darth and asked him his plans. Since i had only 2 days for tripping (had to spend the other 2 with family, the trip had to be short. That was one reason why we'd chucked out Hampi from the plan. The other reason was that i had another friend joining the ride who wasn't much of a rider in terms of experience (his bike was less than 800 kms old), so Hampi would be overkill for him.Read more »

A Paradise... renamed to Malvan

The dates were final but the plan wasn't. I'd planned to start on 28th Sept and be back on 2nd Oct. The destination was going to be somewhere in Konkan, as the rains had only just subsided and i was expecting mindblowing greenery en route.Read more »

Ellora - Ajanta - Panchgani

After a 4000km hiatus, i was ready to break new ground. The last 4000 kms had been the longest stretch during which my bike had seen little more than the home-office route. With some valuable help from darth_lucifer (from bcmtouring.com) and his post, i planned my trip to Ellora, Ajanta and Lonar. But a week in advance i came across this trip being organized by bombay bikers to Panchgani-Mahabaleshwar.Read more »
